India is second largest country in the world in terms of population and is likely to surpass china by 2022. Increasing population have raised concern among many intellectuals and government that how India can sustain its development when the population is high and increasing and resources are limited.

According to some studies india will overtake china in terms of population by 2022, and this is alarming situation for India as more population needs more resources and India has limited resources and overexploitation of resources may lead to global warming and much and may have far implications on indian demography and economy. Therefore many organisations are demanding for the two child policy to control the population of India.
. And the demand is based on the argument that India being a developing country cannot afford to have the such big population . Infant countries like USA, Russia and Canada have geographically more land mass than India and moderate population. Indeed, thought china being the most populous country in the world have geographically more land mass than India and its population density is comparatively lesser than India.
